The Highway Code [140] stipulates Cycle lanes as: "These are shown by road markings and signs. You MUST NOT drive or park in a cycle lane marked by a solid white line during its times of operation. Do not drive or park in a cycle lane marked by a broken white line unless it is unavoidable. You MUST NOT park in any cycle lane whilst waiting restrictions apply." [Law RTRA sects 5 & 8].
Penalty code N065: Fail to conform to a traffic sign, namely a bus lane or contravening Route for buses/pedal cycles. Refers to laws S 36 RTA 88 Reg 19 TSGD Regs 02 & Sch 2 RTOA 88.

Dangerous and illegal parking is very common. Turning into the contraflow cycle lane on Mawson Road leaves the cyclist stuck between oncoming cars on Mill Road and Mawson Road
Bike lane is now a convenient parking bay for taxis. Parking is not enforced since the red tarmac obscures the double yellow lines. Police can't be bothered to enforce the statutory bike lane.

Most Sunday mornings cars (different ones) park in the MCL. Being pushed from the MCL into the main lane is particularly bad on Sundays, as due to less traffic on Milton Rd cars tend to exceed the 30 m/h speed limit on the road.
Taxi X217 DNU illegally stopped/parked in the cycle lane on Hills Road. Illegal and anti-social actions like this make such lanes useless.
After reporting the obstruction caused by cars on the MCL to the police several times, I have noticed an improvement during the past few days in that cars only invade the MCL, without blocking it completely.

The short cycle lane at the west (Hills Rd) end of Glisson Road is often blocked by vehicles parked illegally on the double yellow lines. Some regular sweeps have been requested to try and stamp out this illegal and selfish behaviour.

This illegally and inconsiderately parked car has been ticketed. But it is not next to a yellow line so apparently not enforceable under the Council's new parking enforcement regime. Could this have been ticketed by the police?
