Low wave frame bikes are popular with the elderly (male and female). The low bar avoids having to lift the leg much. Many people of advanced age (in this case 82 years old) rely on them.
A "Bi Bici", which is a single, folding bike with tandem features. It has a second saddle at the very rear end with an extra pair of pedals right on the rear wheel (note the second chain from rear to front).
