Its impressive to see that this massive road sign is supported by a big rectangular steel post on the left side only. So it can be done! We're so used to seeing such signage requiring a multitude of posts that block the pavement cycleway!

VERY WELL DONE

I don't really understand why the No Entry sign here is not place on the central island. - Ah, I suppose if they did that then a motorist could drive on the superhighway here and get away with it.

29623Photo #29623Travelling south towards Cambridge along Cambridge Road, Impington, south of the A14, a deceleration lane (into King's Hedges Road) starts on the left of the on-road cycle lane.

This deceleration lane opens too slowly, so that motor traffic on this lane queues back up over the cycle lane when the traffic light at the south end of it is red.

It would be far better if the deceleration lane widened immediately, so that vehicles could queue on it without obstructing the cycle lane.

This would also be in accordance with the recommendations for deceleration lanes in John Franklin's (TSO-published) book "CycleCraft".
