The pavement on Manilla Street has been badly damaged. This damage is adjacent to the large building site at the eastern end of the road. The pavement by the dropped kerb at the entrance to the building site is now so smashed that a wheelchair user would not be able to use this section. In addition, today (25.11.21) the pavement was completely blocked by the builders, but no ramp was provided for wheelchair or buggy users to get down on to the road to cross to the opposite pavement. A safe and accessible pavement is crucial on this street as it is used as a rat-run by drivers avoiding the roundabout on Marsh Wall and cars and vans regularly drive past at high speed. The pavement on each side is not very wide and an accident could occur if a pedestrian is forced into the street when a speeding van is coming through. More considerate building practices are needed by this company, wider pavement with adequate dropped kerbs needs to be maintained and speed checks need to be undertaken in this area, please.
