A cyclist turns into Garden Walk from Victoria Road. Although this is a two-way street, the last 2 metres of it are designated one-way. To be strictly legal the cyclist must use the marked route on the left hand side of the picture to by-pass the one way. Drivers tend to think this street is one-way and behave bullishly to oncoming cyclists, who they assume are behaving illegally.

The issue in this street is that motorists seem to have wilful disregard for the fact that two-way cycling is already allowed in this street. I've heard reports of bad tempered confrontations. There are simply no road markings in this street to help the contraflow cyclist. I don't think we've yet solved (or even tackled) this problem - the best I've seen so far are the large cycle markings in Bloomsbury. See #37295
