Green Lane Ashton on Mersey proposed location of 2 cycle stands outside number 5 (the new hairdresser between Shelley R and Orchard Cafe) in between the puddle and the planter. However, the planter could be utilised as cycle parking by provideing bars or hoops on 2 sides parallel with the road. A sign cyclists welcome would suffice to explain their use but they could be used also to park dogs or tie the advertising board to in windy weather. I spoke to shopkeeper at Shelley R and she was in favour of cycle stands but liked the idea of using the planter even better.
There are 7 planters in this village 5 or 6 are ideal locations for cycle stands room for 10 or 12 bikes. Shopkeepers and shoppers might like the tidier and neater street with less clutter.
