[Image taken 19.3.21] Bootham/Gillygate York is not a straightforward junction. On a cycle it can be hairy. No, it can be hazardous. The oncoming drivers (from St Leonard's Place, in the Bootham turn lane) have a blind corner due to the city walls. Large vehicles - including many bus services which include 'bendy bus' designs - use this inner ring road. Drivers are not always aware - and can't see - that they need to keep very tight left and go very slowly. Or they or any road user on Bootham heading for St Leonard's Place (all traffic) or High Petergate (cycles) find themselves trying to use the same very limited road area, and either head on or too close.
