[Image taken 9.5.21] Hurricane Way, York. To get to the toucan crossing over Clifton Moor Gate (main road running left to right in background of this image), I need to access the island in the centre of the image (to cross to the island on the right which is the site of one end of the toucan). However, the formal access to the island is in front of the white line. Therefore I wait until the lights change to red, proceed as part of the motor vehicles before making the right turn onto the island. Drivers behind are not expecting this manoeuvre. The island with lights on it is narrow and could have pedestrians with pushchairs, dependants walking, cycling or scooting independently, dogs, shopping... on it. There could be people in wheelchairs or alongside or astride cycles. All of which makes accessing it more fraught and less straightforward. Other images this location today see: #169150 and links
