[Image taken 12.5.21] Marygate car park, York (looking in the direction of Bootham). The width of this route is just 320cm wide despite it being at a junction with a steep slope. People on cycles need a runup to and sufficient space (turning circles) for access and exit. It’s also a blind corner, used by people on foot, off all ages and ability to see and hear, people looking at their phones... A further serious issue is that the plants and trees from the railway side of the fencing on the left is not cut during the bird nesting season. The encroaching growth significantly reduces the width of the route and impacts on the height. Together the issues make active travel a less attractive option - see: #170507.
