[Update: 21.6.21 The scaffolding has gone.] [Image taken 29.5.21] Station Avenue/Station Road, York. The adult accompanying the child who fell off his cycle (see: #169852) is now wheeling two cycles. Why is the motor traffic not limited to one lane here at least at weekends, over the bank holidays and during school holidays? How many of these drivers are simply moving through? They cannot stop and shop or spontaneously decide to buy an ice cream for the family on seeing a van. To my mind the prioritisation here is wrong: the road space needs to be reallocated in favour of two-way cycling while the flood gates are being replaced and to give people on foot and in wheelchairs moving sociably and in protective formation space to move comfortably, efficiently and safely. Other images these issues today: #169848 and links
