[Image taken 11.6.21] York Stadium Leisure Complex next to the LNER Community Stadium, Kathryn Avenue, Huntington, York. (The streetview dates from some years ago and shows the old swimming centre.) The brand new leisure and health facilities are a few metres behind where I stood to take this image. There is cycle parking. But you need to know it is there. (It's behind and beyond the cars to the left.) The motor vehicles are closer to the health/leisure facilities than the cycle parking. What message does this give? Also, there seems not to be a designated motor cycle parking area. When there is no allocated spaces for motor cycles the riders use the cycle parking. This is not okay. It introduces loud, large machines into quiet human spaces. Plus, as today, the motor cyclists often warm up their engines or at least let them run while readying themselves. People who cycle should not be subjected to additional air or noise pollution when parking/collecting their cycles and readying themselves (and any dependants) to go. Other image today see: #170071.
