[Update: I saw on 27.7.21 the holes have been filled] [Image taken 23.6.21] Shipton Street between Pembroke and Newborough Streets, York. Potholes cost money - to fix and in compensation: www.yorkpress.co.uk/news/public-notices/19389909.council-pays-22k-pothole-compensation---survey/ But we are told the air is cleaner on backstreets. However, potholes such as on this street make cycling, walking and wheelchairing uncomfortable and hazardous. Not least if drivers pass too close so you can't avoid a hole or they don't wait for you to make it, necessarily slaloming round the damage, to the end of the street before they pass.
