Update 1.7.21. Signs and work area had gone. [Image taken 29.6.21] Bootham Terrace, York. Works in the road but no company name, no contact details. This means it's impossible to report issues. I understood it was a legal requirement to provide such information eg as here: #166254. I asked CYC for confirmation. On 8.7.21 a CYC Streetworks Inspector said: "All works undertaken by a statutory undertaker on the public highway must display a sign which includes their contact details, utility name and the approved permit number. The Streetworks team endeavour to check as many sites as possible but due to low numbers of inspectors on the team we cannot always get to every site. If however you spot anything in the future that raises concerns, please feel free to email us and we can send an inspector to investigate if you feel the site is unsafe or causing an obstruction." On 9.7.21, the same person explained: "In the United Kingdom, statutory undertakers are the various companies and agencies given general licence to carry out certain development and highways works. Generally these are utilities and telecoms companies or nationalised companies such as Network Rail." See also: #171136, #171137, #171139. Other image today: #171140
