[UPDATE: The ramp has been removed #176078.] [Image taken 3.7.21] Tanner's Moat, York. Accessible space and infrastructure works for many people. This temporary ramp has been added for wheelchair users on the ‘wellingtonrowesplanadelivediversion’. The route closed early May. It’s therefore taken around eight weeks to get this ramp installed. I asked a friend who uses a chair for her view. She said: "Yes, I can use them if I have to but I try to avoid them* as they are quite flimsy for a heavy electric chair and are often at a very steep angle as they are so short. I would drive some distance to avoid them. I could use the one in the photo although the signs have been left a little in the way. I could avoid the post." *This was also the view of someone in a wheelchair trike who chose not to use the plastic ramp - see: #171345. I asked a CYC officer if the ramp could be replaced with something more substantial: "No." CYC really is not good at accessibility: see also: #171369 and #171370. Other images today see also: #171340 and links.
