[Image taken 3.7.21] Tanner's Moat, York. Temporary ramp added perhaps on 2 July 2021. I hope its presence means a permanent dropped kerb here will be reinstated. There had been a dropped kerb here between the bollards. It was removed in January 2018 as part of the Lendal gyratory works. You can just make it out here: goo.gl/maps/AxdvqBAsdTFyrAwJ6.
I submitted a formal complaint on 10 June 2018:
"A dropped kerb was removed during the Lendal gyratory works, this makes it more difficult for people with pushchairs, wheeled shopping bags, or wheeled luggage. It has made it more difficult for people on bikes to access/cross Lendal Bridge."
On 13 June 2018, I received this reply:
"The removal of the dropped kerb was proposed by the Design Engineer to comply with design guidance on pedestrian movements. I am satisfied the design that was forwarded is the most appropriate layout for this location. As such, we do not intend to reinstate the dropped kerb at this location.
Outcome: Not Upheld".
This reply was repeated to me, and to ward councillors and others, when raised on my behalf on subsequent occasions.
