[Image taken 6.7.21] Marygate carpark, York. A car park needs exits for the people who have arrived in a motor vehicle and have got out of it to do whatever it was they came to the car park to do. Exits/entrances need to be visible. They need to be kept clear. They need to be wide enough for people in wheelchairs or ‘protective mode’ (adult with child, adult with adult) or in social mode or dog-walking mode or for people with pushchairs or cycles. But there are no signed or even protected exits between Marygate car park and the critical cycle-ped-wheelchair route alongside. A motor traffic-free corridor that has the accessible Scarborough Bridge at one end that leads directly into the rail station, and that is part of NCN65, routes to schools, access to tourist attractions and accommodation… This space is narrower than others due to the post. This space could be marked keep clear and kept free. Other images today see: #171434 and links.
