[Image taken 17.10.21] Nuffield Hospital, Haxby Road, York. There is room for the trike (or other wider cycle or a group of cycles sharing a lock/locks) only on the end of the run of Sheffields (racks). There is insufficient space between the uprights/supports not only to get a wider machine in/out but for the person on it to be able to get on/off to load/unload what is in the rear carrier basket. Plus, how do you get to/from the racks - even if you don't have a mobility issue? It's on the exit road; there's a kerb along all of the road space side but no drop kerb. If you have made a U-turn after entering the premises and use the entry point to the car park (visible in: #175076), a sign says, no exit, on this side. Further, the kerb is higher than the car park level and is uneven. There's a slope up to it from one angle and a camber down to the road from another. It is neither accessible nor inclusive. It is also not protected on the car park side. So, though there is room for longer cycles including those with a trailer, I would feel my cycle were vulnerable. It's also not covered. Staff will be here for a full shift. Patients may stay several days. Does the location mean it's more vulnerable to thieves: you can see it from the road, you can get away - onto the road - fast.
