[UPDATE: Despite the sign indicating this was a long-term diversion "Mon-Fri 8.30-5.30 Follow diversion" I got a reply from the Environment Agency that said it was a diversion for a couple of hours: "That diversion notice was in place for a short period yesterday whilst our contractors were completing some works on Almery Terrace. It has since been removed and access in front of Almery Terrace has been reinstated. Our site agent will be checking the length of the route today to make sure all the signs have been taken down. We apologise for any inconvenience caused."]
[Image taken 22.11.21] Water End junction with Government House Road, York. [NOTE: No streetview at this location.] Signs warning of a diversion for cyclists. For people heading to where? Where does the obstruction start? Nothing is visible at this point. What about people in wheelchairs/mobility scooters? I had a weekly shop onboard and did not unnecessarily want to climb the steep slope here or share busy polluted roads with motorists driving in low and dazzling sun. I asked a couple who had walked from town. They had not seen any obstruction(s). So I ignored the signs and continued to Marygate car park (entering through here: #176032) without a problem, though there is still no disabled ramp (and noting this inaccurate sign was still in situ: #176037) without seeing anything requiring a diversion. Other images today: #176058, #176059, #176060, #176061, #176062, #176063.
