The demand for an active travelway between Pontesbury and Shrewsbury is high. A feasibility study has been done. The road is too narrow, fast and busy for cyclists to travel safely. The need is there for commuters (both students & workers), due to poor public transport, plus leisure. A dedicated active travelway is needed, either by resurrecting the old railway line or by creating a suitable route parallel to the main A488 road.
