[Image taken 13.3.22] Bootham, York. Context and links: #180045. So, the sign Pedestrians shows people on foot should cross the road here. Or does it mean use the road between the barricades? Because the Footway closed sign 'clearly' shows that people on foot/with buggies/in mobility scooters/in wheelchairs, children scooting or balance biking 'surely' means use the next gap along. So the sign is not ambiguous because you - understandably - will interpret it as supporting your route regardless of whether you want to cross or continue in this direction on this side of the road. People with limited are no sight are completely scuppered. Even if the signs were clear there's all the obstacles on the pavement and that narrow, double length temporary dropped kerb to navigate. Or trip over.
