[Image taken 13.3.22] Bootham, York. Context and links: #180045. A cone in the pavement adds to the mess, confusion and hazards. As I was taking this image a steady stream of pedestrians moved through the works in both directions: at one point I could see six people in the gap ahead of the barricades. Some, like this woman, following the arrow in the Pedestrians sign. In fact, people are supposed to cross here and continue their journey on the other side. Including over a side road and than cross back. Hazards, extra journeys, and a longer route have all been designed in. Then there's the fact no-one checked on the works and picked up the barriers, removed this cone or the one on the pavement on the other side or returned the 'tidied away' works A board sign off the pavement back on St Mary's (the side road further up) to where it came from, presumably pre- being blown over by the wind. Context and links: #180045.
