[Image taken 16.3.22] Bootham, York. Works for the Scarborough Bridge to Bootham Park cycle route improvements scheme mean there are temporary lights. But there are no overtaking cyclists signs, there is no reservoir (temporary ASL) ahead of other road users despite there being an advisory cycle lane and this being a key route to/through the city and part of NCN65. There is also no information board. The Safety at Street Works and Road Works A Code of Practice
Information board assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/321056/safety-at-streetworks.pdf says
"An information board must be displayed at every street and road works site except mobile works, short duration works and minor works that do not
involve excavation. Information boards are still highly desirable at these sites where it is safe and practicable to provide them. This board should be placed so that it does not obstruct footways or carriageways but can be clearly read by pedestrians, and any drivers who have stopped close to the board.
The information board must give the name of the organisation undertaking the works, any principal contractor and an emergency contact telephone number. Wherever practical, it should also contain other information that will be helpful in explaining to the public why the work is being done, how long it will take and a message apologising for inconvenience." Bootham is a key route through the city. The works are due to last five weeks. Plus, there are times and reasons people need to be able to alert someone who can take action when there are issues (see: #180124, #179818, #180045). Yet, there is no clue which organisation is undertaking the works let alone a contact number. Other image this issue today: #180126. Other images today: #180123 and links.
