[Newer images from 8.9.22 see: #186050 and links.] [Image taken on 24.3.22] Bootham, York. At roadworks, City of York Council seems resistant to putting up Do not overtake cyclists signs; putting up information boards (required in most cases) which include a contact phone number for issues; providing temporary ASLs/cycle reservoirs at temporary lights even when there is a cycle lane; making routes direct, intuitive or at least logical and legible for people on foot and in wheelchairs. After lobbying, a No overtaking cycles sign has appeared, though it's barely visible due the location and the clutter; and the dates for the works here and at the other street they affect. These works are part of the Scarborough Bridge to Bootham Park cycle route improvements scheme but Bootham is also earmarked for A19 cycling improvements (www.york.gov.uk/news/article/901/plans-shared-for-transformation-of-york-active-travel-routes).
