Sandweg in Oldenburg, a popular short-cut to the motorway intersection "Oldenburg Ost", is in poor condition. The carriageway is largely only provisionally paved and has many potholes and cracks. These faults and the lack of a hard shoulder, drainage and side walks demand a fundamental redesign. Due to the increasing development of the areas, the Sandweg will in future also be served by public transport. Currently, the many young families moving into the area are left without segregated cycleways which are urgently needed.
