[UPDATE: Newer images: #182122 and links] [UPDATE: 19.4.22 Today, just 8 days, including a weekend and two Bank Holidays, after emailing Wickes, I received a reply: "Hello, My Name is Chris Doyle, I am a Regional Director for Wickes and York is one of my stores. I was passed the correspondence that you had taken the time to send to David Wood and as a result visited the York Store where I had a meeting with the leadership team and looked at the options to improve our offer to cyclists.
You will see from the photo's below we have re-sited trolley bays to open up the area thus making it a lot more accessible, I do hope this meets with your approval. Please do not hesitate to contact me if I can be of any other further assistance, my details are below..."] I will visit later this week.] [Image taken 11.4.22] Wickes, Lysander Close, York. [Note: No street view at this location.] The racks are still Sheffields but you can't get to them (see: #181644), only the first person to arrive can park (and be certain of being able to leave) and anyone with a 'York'cycle (ie a bespoke or adapted cycle for utility use, child or adult-carrying, for mobility use including trikes... #180470, #172427, #167492, #179009, #178199, #177115, #175323, #180475, #174708, #181590) are excluded from using these. A quarter of York residents do not have access to a car according to the 2011 census. And those that do do not want to make every journey in one. The area around Wickes has an excellent network of segregated cycle routes. The links to the industrial areas from other parts of the city are also on segregated cycle routes. Sadly, this outlet no longer provides for people who cycle or supports potential customers' travel choices. Other images today: #181648, #181649.
