[UPDATE 9.11.22: #187631, #187632] [UPDATE: An email from CYC on 10.8.22 says: "The path and vegetation to the north is adopted highway, so it is with the Council. I will chase up getting the section from the zebra through to Foss Islands Road cut back. The surface is not in the best condition however, and this may take a little longer to resolve." [Update: Foliage on the right-hand side has been trimmed: #182699 The other side - who is responsible for this - has not been cut. Plus some of the branches of some of the trees along here rake the heads of the path users. ] [UPDATE: On 11.5.22 I received this reply: "We have confirmed that this area falls under Workman LLP and will be dealt with by our Landscaping contractor immediately."] [Image taken 26.4.22] Non-motorised users route alongside Foss Islands Retail Park, between James Street and Foss Islands Road, York [Note: No street view at this location.] The greenery alongside the shared use route alongside Foss Islands Retail Park is not kept in check. It was not cut back in winter (see: #177015). From this side of the route that links the Retail Park and Morrisons, the pedestrian approaching from the left over the zebra crossing is invisible. She is carrying a bright shopping bag. You can see that in this image but it’s not a guarantee: #177015. However even that does But usually the route the camera is showing is busy with people of all ages, moving at all speeds, accompanied and unaccompanied, and representing the full range of 'active travel' modes. I believe the crossing needs to be visible so route users know to have time to see people approaching from that side no matter how busy the cycle-ped-scooter-wheelchair route is. Compare with: #182118. Other images elsewhere today: #182070 and links.
