[UPDATE: #187802. [Image taken on 5.5.22] Burton Stone Lane, York. Other images here today and links: #182419. The bench has been removed. This street is very long yet has a doctor's surgery on the corner top left (junction with Bootham/Clifton) and two supermarkets, a butcher's and other outlets further north. Older people, those with mobility or health issues, or accompanying dependants or people they care for, need regular resting options to be able to continue to move around actively independently and without being reliant on others or motorised forms of transport. I also think it is important that the full range of pavement and street users are very visible on our streets: to create understanding of older age or health issues, and to keep a 'human' element in the face of overwhelming motor vehicle use, much larger vehicles and irresponsible driving speeds and behaviour.
