[Image taken 24.5.22] York Hospital, Bridge Lane, York. Street View suggests there were 82 cycle parking spaces here and shows how well used they were. They have been removed. The South Entrance has been reconfigured as part of the temporary A&E access. There had been covered racks here. Now there is no provision for people who cycle to work, hence the flyparking. There is no in situ signage directing people to alternative provision. An email from the NHS rep. refers to the racks in: #182859. However the staff member I spoke said they were locked (as I saw: #182860). This is an NHS (ie health) facility. The lack of accessible, convenient, secure, cycle parking impacts directly on staff. York is a city where the effects of climate change are increasingly obvious. Infra for the Scarborough Bridge to Bootham Park cycle route improvements (see: #177537) was recently installed (though the toucan is not yet live) and road surfaces were repaired to support it. Further that route links with the A19 cycling improvements (www.york.gov.uk/news/article/901/plans-shared-for-transformation-of-york-active-travel-routes) scheme. It beggars belief there is no convenient provision for anyone here not even staff. Other image this issue today: #182858. Previous image this issue: #182557.
