[Image taken 25.5.22] Waitrose, Foss Islands Road, York. My first email to Waitrose asking for further and better spaced provision is dated Monday, 14 March 2016. In May 2022 additional racks have been put in plus they are better spaced. They are not under cover but they are conveniently located - if you find them. Regulars will likely go straight to the overly full inaccessible provision they always use. Image of this location taken in October 2021: #175119. Overview of the Foss Islands Waitrose cycle parking here in October 2021: #175105. Signage is needed: a) to tell customers arriving on cycles or who could do so, there is cycle parking, for example on these signs: #175124, #175126; b) that says where it is: 'Left and right of the shop entrance' and at the oversubscribed parking regulars use #175110, 'Additional parking to left of shop entrance'; c) at the parking so it is clear what it is (so it's not used as an alternative trolley park - see: #182714 - or as impromptu seating). Waitrose has very clear 'at' - destination - cycle parking signage (see #174629) it should duplicate this and put it on the wall here. The sign needs to be sufficiently large and high to ensure it can be seen from some distance away. I also have a query about lighting. There is a tall lamp in the car park (base of post visible between the bollards in #182863). There is none on the wall in the background. I wonder if having light only on one side means your cycle and therefore the lock could be in shadow. Putting a key into a lock you can barely see can be tricky. Other images of the cycle parking here today: #182862, #182863, #182864, #182865, #182866, #182867. Other image this location today: #182868.
