The end of a group of racks is where there can be more space not less, and used for oversized rigs or groups, for example a family, sharing locks. However, I don't think it would be possible to get longer/wider cycles (and it might be tricky for standard designs with laden panniers too) to here. This is due to the narrowness of the access - the aisle (see: #182867). I can just get my cycle in here. If there were another on the other side of the support, I think I'd just about be able to load it from the walkway side. But what if the cargo included a human? You need to be standing very stably to lift a living load on and off. Other images of the cycle parking here today and links: #182861.
