[Image taken 7.7.22] Rail station, York. [NOTE: No streetview at this location.] The queue for tickets. It doubled after I took this. I asked the people visible if they minded being in the image. I explained I was taking it to send as a complaint to the MD of LNER David Horne. I said, Please look away if you don’t want to be recognised. No-one did… Plus, the lift to the left of the ticket office was out of order and it was still not working on our return 8 or so hours later. (We had our cycles with us and I can't lift mine so we need the lifts.) This means it was possible people who queued and were able to get a ticket might still have missed their train due to the extra time required to reach their platform. We realised we did not have enough time despite arriving 15 minutes before our departure. (You can’t buy Northern Duo tickets from LNER machines.) I asked at the info cube if they could find someone to come and sell tickets from the handheld devices but they said they couldn’t do this.. I asked two lots of LNER people I found on the platform to alert management to the queues. They said they couldn’t do this. We were able to buy our ticket on the train but there’s no guarantee. Next week is the Great Yorkshire Show… if the queue was this long on an ‘ordinary’ weekday, I think it will be round the station next week. And the plan is to close all ticket offices because they are not needed. Other images today: #184208, #184209, #184210, #184211, #184212, #184213, #184214, #184215, #184216, #184220.
