[Image taken 7.7.22] Abbey Road, Knaresborough. On the day we cycled here there was yet another ‘What’s great about Harrogate and area’ TV programme listing the cliches… Betty’s, the Turkish baths… But there is much no- or low-traffic cycling to be done for all ages and levels of fitness. Knaresborough Waterside is shady on hot days and has carvings to spot. (There’s another here: #184216.) There are bollards (goo.gl/maps/Vf8euMKyXUrCMi7UA) at two places (www.google.co.uk/maps/place/Waterside,+Knaresborough/@54.0066494,-1.4702992,19.74z/data=!4m5!3m4!1s0x48795212750bed6b:0xfacf381fe212121d!8m2!3d54.0065007!4d-1.4704971). This means it’s a no-through route for drivers but is permeable to people cycling, walking and wheelchairing, so it’s very quiet. We saw several families with very young children including one on a balance bike. If you continue to Bland’s Hill and cross the bridge, there’s wild swimming or paddling at the Lido (meridianparks.co.uk/lido-leisure-park/ www.openwaterleeds.com/Knaresborough-Lido) and sculptures to be spotted en route: www.thenorthernecho.co.uk/news/9547824.identity-mystery-north-yorkshire-woodsman-revealed-consett-chainsaw-sculptor/ Other image in Knaresborough today and links: #184213.
