[Image taken 31.7.22] Deangate, York. Other image this topic today: #185181. I hadn't seen this design of hitch to attach a child's cycle in its entirety to an adult's. It's a Trail Angel Plus from Halfords: tinyurl.com/34rszd3r. This is an alternative to the FollowMe (hitch seen at this location: #184974, in use: #166269. I see many families using these racks. CYC has funding to install cycle parking in the city centre (tinyurl.com/yc3tb9aw). There are clearly features about the location that make it work for families with young children - in addition to it being close to cafes, the Minster, shops, etc. However, the image shows that racks need to be set back from the kerb. The front wheel of the adult cycle is at an angle so it's unstable and the hitch of the Trail Angel Plus overhangs the pavement by some way. This narrows the width that is available and is a hazard for many people including those with no or limited sight. The four cycles are sharing a lock. Wider spacing on racks enables this making it convenient for the adult(s) to park and reducing the obstacles to cycling. Other image here today: #185181.
