[UPDATE: #185661] [Image taken 31.7.22] Ahead left, Butcher Terrace (left), Terry Ave (ahead), Millennium Bridge (ahead right), York. [NOTE: No street view at this location.] This sign is filthy and illegible. It’s also unhelpful or just plain wrong depending on how you would proceed from here. Route 65 is straight ahead. But the route designers don’t want people on cycles to ride under the Millennium Bridge (see sign in other direction: #185668) but to jag left then right. This adds to the congestion of the already busy junction at this end of the Millennium Bridge - #186189. But if you do go left you’ve got the Cycle route closed signs: #185184. [Update: The route reopened in September 2022.] This sign should be removed until it can be redesigned - all users continuing along this side of the river should be directed to continue straight ahead under the Millennium Bridge - and the route widened to meet at least minimum standards. York could be so much more fun and easy (intuitive) to ride for residents, visitors and tourists. But signage – permanent or temporary - is not the city’s forte. Other image here today: #185183.
