[Image taken 27.10.22] Aldi, Water Lane, York. [NOTE: No street view at this location] Aldi staff are storing/displaying the chain’s wares in the covered walkway area. This massively restricts the width of the route plus the nearside space of the nearest cycle rack was not usable. The trolley takes up half the space even when not moving. And trolleys – even empty ones – never roll straight. Plus you need ‘swing room’ to manoeuvre it to your cycle/your motor vehicle. A human is around 1m wide when walking. People using the cycle racks might have one or more of a child, panniers, shopping bags… People parking in the spaces to the right might have a wheelchair (average width 1m) or be holding the hands of an infant or someone they care for in addition to having shopping bags... Other images here today: #187301, #187302.
