[Image taken 4.11.22] Cinder Mews, Jubilee Terrace, York. Jez (a volunteer ‘pilot’), Julie (a paid employee) and the brand new £10,000 still-to-be-named Triobike Taxi. The Cycling Without Age project is an international initiative (cyclingwithoutage.org/) The York pilots (pedallers) are volunteers. The people who enjoy the chance to get out may be care home residents. York Bike Belles now offers community rides too including nature rides: yorkbikebelles.community/community-nature-rides/. The rides take place year round. Favourite routes include Hob Moor (using the key operated gates, such as: #177341), Rowntree Park, York University, The Minster and New Earswick (using the key operated gate - #172505). The hundreds of barriers around York limit where they can go. The uneven surfaces caused by tree roots and potholes are also a consideration. Bumps can cause pain. Context and links: #187500.
