It is a good concept - using a toucan crossing to link Cow Drive (leads to UEA and the hospital) to The Avenues (for the city centre) - but poor execution.
Just look at all of those barriers seperating cyclists, pedestrians and road traffic. They restrict the width available for less manouverable cycles (eg with a child trailer) to get on and off the crossing, with people coming the other way.
Solution - clear away the barriers, they are completely unnecessary, and give people room to manouvre
