[Image taken 20.2.23] Crichton Avenue (close to the junction with Wigginton Road), York. The amount of space for any user group - pedestrians waiting/arriving at the crossing; pedestrians passing/leaving the crossing; people on cycles passing the moving pedestrians and those waiting - is 210cm. You take off 50cm for the side next to the upright, walking, cycling, wheelchairing over the tactile pavement is uncomfortable, or for some, painful. Getting people who are on Crichton Avenue road bridge and are heading for Foss Islands Path off the route would massively alleviate the pressure here. It could also free up space for this to become a toucan crossing and get people over Crichton Avenue from the direction of Haxby-Wigginton (and in the other direction) more intuitively, much more directly and without the considerable changes in height.
