[Image taken 22.2.23] Former Bootham Hospital Grounds junction with Bootham, York. I want to watch this exit/entry in the evening rush hour but it's not yet light enough at that time to do so. However, even watching during the day shows some of the problems. Cyclists have a green light but there's someone crossing the mouth of the junction ahead - St Mary's (the intended route of the Scarborough Bridge to Bootham Park cycle route improvements scheme). Plus the oncoming driver is approaching fast - the line is set a long way back - to 'race' to be able to make the manoeuvre s/he wants. I feel this is yet another hazard for all users - especially cyclists as we are not encased in a metal carapace and do not have as powerful acceleration or braking systems as a motor vehicle. Three more images this series: #191334, #191335, #191336. Context and links: #191332.
