MY EXPERIENCE: One evening in the week commencing 6.3.23 I was walking along this stretch of pavement. It was dark. I got to about here. I could hear a driver had entered the pound behind me and was moving fast. I could see a driver ahead of also moving at speed and about to enter the pound. I stopped to see what would happen. I was now side on to the pavement ie my body was as far from the kerb as it would naturally be. Fortunately. The two motorists passed each other - at speed - with the driver of the oncoming vehicle right up against the pavement. Had I remained side on to the road ie the normal position I think I might have been hit. In any event it was frightening. At night drivers can see - they have powerful headlights. The street lamps are few, far between and do not illuminate the pavement or the road. The new measures add danger to those of us walking, cycling, wheelchairing... And undermine the message, Don't use the car for short journeys...
