[UPDATE: #193433] [Image taken 19.4.23] Burton Stone Lane (looking southbound), York. The damaged section of splitter island and the broken wand have been removed. To alert road users to the splitter island two cones have been placed in it. Context: #193043. Other images today and links: #193154. While I was taking the image someone was loading/unloading her vehicle (righthand side in the background). Any vehicles stopped here mean road users entering the 'pound' of the traffic calming measures cannot see the entry point beyond. Motorists continued to enter the pound from this end. A driver must have moved to the left to get out of the way of oncoming vehicles and got trapped behind the parked vehicle. At the entry (exit) point at the other end, road users heading north cannot see beyond the parked vehicle. One of the houses has been put up for sale this week. Chance? Or the result of this ill-conceived scheme that puts footway users and people on cycles at more risk than before it was installed. Other images today and links: #193154.
