Cycle route signs in Essen, Germany. A self proclaimed "fahrrad freundeliche stadt", Essen has a very low rate of cycling largely due to infrastructure which massively favours driving. While there are four lanes for cars in one direction on this street, cyclists are expected to share the pavement with pedestrians.
