Whenever I get caught-up at this set of signals, I always think "Why can't someone just erase the 1 m of stop line on the nearside of the road?". Alternatively (because some motorists may not be as anal about legislation as I am), a permanent green cycle filter on the nearside signal head would do a similar trick. And yes: that woman with the pink helmet and red bag did shoot these lights but I can sympathise with her—they make no logical sense.
