I've learnt to avoid this section of road within a metre or so of the verge as it's very rough and leads to steering issues. This puts me in the middle of the road.
Cars just assume they can pass whatever their speed and proximity. Essentially another example of an unengaged brain whilst controlling 1 ton of metal. Again, breaking "Highway code rule 163".
