I can imagine loads of car drivers gently discombobulating about this clip and seeing cyclists do this. However, I believe I've done nothing wrong here.
First, I see the lights are changing and quickly assess my options, spot the empty cyclepath and decide to head that way. I drop speed as the manoeuvre is tricky. First, check there's nothing coming from the left. Then make a left turn into the side road and quickly join the cyclepath crossing of this road. Make sure anyone crossing the main road, on hte pedestrian lights is well away from me and head on down the cycle path. After a short while I notice pedestrians in the cyclepath ahead and decide to re-join the main road carriageway. I check the road behind and it is free of traffic, so I re-join.
See, what's wrong with that?
