Cycle route signs for:
- Wincheap (turn right);
- Chartham (turn right, follow the signs for the Great Stour Way).
This right turn is the beginning of National Cycle Route 18 via Chartham, Wye, Ashford, Tentenden, and finishing at Royal Tunbridge Wells. The portion to Chartham via the Great Stour Way is a traffic-free riverside shared-use cycle path. Follow this route to reach Canterbury East railway station (Follow the Wincheap signs when seen, then the Canterbury East station signs when seen after that).
Continue ahead down the hill, ignoring the right turn, to reach Canterbury City Centre via National Cycle Route 1. NCR1 continues on to Fordwich, Sandwich, Deal, and Dover. Follow this route to reach Canterbury West railway station.
About turn briefly uphill and over the railway bridge to follow NCR1 via the Crab & Winkle Way to Whitstable, then beyond to Faversham, Sittingbourne, London, and beyond.
