Thought I'd try the alternate cyclepath to taking the potentially dangerous road into Cherry Hinton High Street from the north (see for dangers).

From this it's quite clear why cyclists don't use this route.
14 seconds, uncleared vegetation.
23 seconds, rubbish chucked up out of pothole strewn acroos route
.. more of this throughout
35 seconds, getting very narrow for a shared path
42 seconds, appalling broken path with poorly cleared vegetation
43 seconds, cycling calming measure*
45 seconds, kerb drop of several inches*
1m12 seconds, roundabout requiring re-admittance onto road, roundly ignored by drivers coming from the left.

All this is essentially saying cycling is a "second class" mode of transport. The *highlighted especially, the traffic calming measures should be a the road to calm cars down in a residential area!

This kind of cycling provision is roundly ignored by cyclists as most people do when they are told "you don't matter as much" and there are alternatives. They will always ignore the route given and stick, well within their rights, to the road. This is an utter waste of tax payers money.
