Highway Code Rule 240 (backed up in law)
www.direct.gov.uk/en/TravelAndTransport/Highwaycode/DG_069860
You MUST NOT stop or park on a tram or cycle lane.
This lorry is blocking the WHOLE shared path, for people walking and cycling. The space that looks like it's there is called a door zone, where doors open right in front of people cycling and cause great danger.
This time with the cab the other way round I take no risks in passing on the cyclepath with the chance that the door could open at any time. I drop into the road. For those concerned about the van that then passes me, I indicated well, I was a good distance in front, there's no other traffic around. Quite why the van had to stay close in is a little bemusing. It took 3 seconds to get to me, which is plenty of time.
