The Cycle Forum for Tameside has now been discontinued. The decision was taken by the Lead Executive Member for Transport and Development and senior officers that the forum was not performing the function for which it was originally set up.
THE FOLLOWING ARE THE VIEWS OF THE SUBMITTER AND NOT NECESSARILY OF ANY CYCLING ORGANISATION
Do the officers in Tameside and the elected members give a stuff about cycling, have they ever?
We can marvel but not in silence at what is on offer for the cyclists of Greater Manchester in this backwater (in cycling terms of course)
I have never watched the league of gentlemen but I expect I will to understand the mentality of this alliance. Also the Dr Shipman enquiry may help.
Superlatives fail me when I consider the optimism of Ms Milton a junior lord of the Treasury "We anticipate that the transfer of public health responsibilities from primary care trusts to local authorities will encourage greater dialogue between public health professionals and transport planners" www.localgov.co.uk/index.cfm

It will be interesting how cycle issues in Tameside will be taken forward. How will this reconcile with the successful Local Sustainable Transport Fund (LTSF) bids (32.5M and 4.9M) put together and led by Transport for Greater Manchester on behalf of ALL GM districts. In their bids they promised to consult with cyclists. I expect in the Local Transport Plans (LTP 1 2 and 3) they promised this as well.
