On road no entry marking.

The West Central Area Committee has on a number of occasions previously supported the idea of more on-road markings to help cyclists understand where cycling is permitted and not in the historic core of Cambridge City Centre.

While chair fo the West Central Area Committee Cllr Julie Smith, conducted a walk around the central area identifying further areas where on-road markings, especially one way arrows, could be located.

Cllr Smith reported to the 10th of January 2013 West Central Area Committee that the County Council would be happy to put down such markings if the Area Ctte made a small contribution to cover the cost of paint, and if the work could be combined with other work in the city to reduce the cost to the County Council.

At the January 2013 meeting County Councillor Whitebread, the ward councillor, appeared to be withdrawing, or lessening, her support for the proposal, saying it was not something her constituents had been asking for.

A number of those using the public open forum at the meeting subsequently called for improved signage of the central cycle routes.
